I commissioned a pencil study of my daughter’s aged cat, Shadow just after she passed away, as my daughter was struggling a bit and missed her terribly – they’d been inseparable. I found a photo of Shadow, bony, stiff in the joints and ancient. It was a tricky angle with the cat’s rheumy eyes filling the lens in a quite distorted way, and her body looking tiny by contrast. So hard to get right, but Katie nailed every jutting angle, every hair on the cat’s body, and the eyes… You could stare into them forever. Ruby sobbed when I presented the framed picture to her. It has been on her wall in pride of place ever since. What more can I say? Katie is a talent. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend her. I will post a picture with this when I get home.
